Journeyman Musician

Gosh, I had to have been 12, a little older, for sure. Me and two friends had Christmas I asked for a GameCube and both of them got guitars. I was like I would have asked for one also. I was content but upset. I remember my grandma lost her ta return for a couple months after the incident and she asked if I wanted anything and I got a drum set. Shortly, thereafter, enough lessons to get me to playing along with the radio. I didn't even know what a metronome was until after I molded to the guitarists timing over the radio. I played horribly for a long time, but I eventually made enough progress to play a few churches with several different worship bands. By the time I figured out where I left off in my drum lessons to move forward I was already working full-time and going to college part-time. Adult free time isn't enough to put 6-8 hours a day behind the drum set. I switched to playing guitar and writing songs using YouTube videos for drumbeats. I did a fair share of singing and trying to do screamo vocals. I became obsessed with putting together a home recording studio with Protools, Logic Pro, and Garage band. I have all my recordings on my SoundCloud now. I recovered so files from when I first wrote music and managed to get those into my SoundCloud. I'm known under the artist name Immortal by Grace. Then just this last couple years I discovered the website Distrokid that helped me get my songs onto Spotify. That just felt like such a huge milestone for me. It's not super great but I made it into a platform. It just felt cool. No one really listened to it. I advertised it on Fiverr and people all over the world heard it. But only 30 out of 4000 stayed but the fact that it was glanced at was still pretty historic. For me trying to just be a good local band that people can vibe with. With so many issues at home my drum set is at the pawn shop for the second time, but I'm really focused on playing bass these last couple months. It's really the only instrument I haven't spent a significant amount of life exploring it's truth. I still write songs, but with Fiverr I can get professional help to write songs then have any genre put music together for those words. I can even send guitar riffs to musicians to make a song with. I definitely recommend pay a professional, memorize the song you make, and then pay for studio music tracks and sing your memorized professional lyrics. This way you'll be forced to focus on the subject of the song. When composing lyrics of course. A nice 2800watt PA speaker, a pedal, and a bass guitar is my source of energy.
